You’re a nonprofit leader who sees what’s possible. You know your organization can go further, deepen its impact, and break through what’s holding it back.

But you’re up against mixed messages, shifting resources,
and siloed communication that slow progress and drain energy.
I help leaders like you (1) develop clear, aligned messaging that unites your board, staff, and stakeholders around a shared vision, so you can (2) turn fragmented efforts into focused action that accelerates impact.
Whether you’re leading a major transformation or simply refining how your organization communicates, my work helps your team speak, decide, and act as one.
What if the challenge isn't doing more, but how your team understands and communicates the vision?
In a moment when nonprofits are stretched thin and expected to deliver more with less, this essay will help you name the tension between bold leadership and scattered execution.

It also shows how getting your team on the same page can lead to stronger funder relationships, deeper community partnerships, and more opportunities to grow your impact.

When your organization is united around a shared vision, the results are unmistakable.
LEADERS GO FROM CONCERNED TO CONFIDENT
"I don't know if we can do this."
transforms into
"I understand where we're headed and my role in getting us there."

TEAMS GO FROM OVERWHELMED TO EMPOWERED
"I can't possibly take this on without burning out."
becomes
"I have what I need to be fully invested in our organization as we evolve."

STAKEHOLDERS GO FROM CONFUSED TO INSPIRED
"Why are they doing this?"
shifts to
"I can't wait to be a part of it!"
Hi, I'm Angela Marino.
And I believe words have the power to change the world.
When organizations "sing from the same songbook," as I like to say, it creates a new level of cohesion. It moves people to action, changes hearts and minds, and draws others into your cause.
I've seen it.
Although I had been leading teams for years, it wasn’t until 2016 that I truly recognized just how powerful co-creating intentional, shared narrative could be. At that point, I was tapped to be a key member of a small team at United Way Worldwide, tasked with envisioning a major transformation for the global organization.
I was determined to drive BIG change, and I wanted it fast. But I quickly learned that change (especially on a massive scale with a beloved brand) requires thoughtful buy-in, deep discussions, and a lot of patience.

Over time, that team developed the vocabulary and framing that united us in a shared vision and clear direction for the future. Being part of that work was transformative for me... I just didn't realize at the time how much.
As Chief Marketing Officer at United Way in St. Louis, I saw how words shaped our organizational culture and drove impact. In my role, I not only led marketing and communications for the $90 million organization, but I also led significant change.
In 2020, we launched a funding shift 100 years in the making, carefully planning how to evolve our brand. It was a deep practice in change communications to ensure every stakeholder felt part of the organization's future.
After years as an executive leader leading change from within, I started my consulting firm in 2022, and quickly became captivated by the inextricable link between strategy, messaging, and the shared narrative that drives change.
In addition to developing "done-for-you" messaging, I began leading my clients through workshops so they could uncover their organization's unique perspectives, voice, and messages.
What happened was incredible: Through deep discussions in these workshops, many teams (and sometimes entire organizations) became more aligned in their work. Yes, they were working on messaging and language and vision, but in doing so, they were actually doing the transformative work.
Once you see it, you can't unsee it: developing an organizational narrative, built on shared vision and language, becomes the catalyst for driving meaningful change.
Today, I help nonprofit leaders not only craft that narrative but put it to work through advisory services, co-created messaging frameworks, and even AI tools that help embed alignment into the everyday life of their organizations.

Let's be honest. Leading a nonprofit today is harder than ever, and getting everyone on the same page is essential.
The stakes are high.
The challenges are real.
When teams not only have the words but also deeply understand the organization's purpose, they're able to move forward with confidence, even during times of uncertainty.
Your organization deserves a story that empowers you to achieve your mission at a higher level.
You are leading the way. Now is the time to create the change the world desperately needs, through intentional, impactful communication that aligns your strategy with your people and drives your mission forward.
